We should have the understanding that we don’t own ourselves, we don’t own our life. You’re Christ’s possession. You were once in darkness, a slave to sin, you were someone that could do things as you dim fit but your coming to Christ and accepting him made you a new person, A CHILD OF GOD. The Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit now resides in you – (John 1:22) Although you’re in the world, you’re not of the world. Your way of life is now of Christ, you begin to grow into maturity in Christ. You don’t do as it pleases you even when you’re pressurized to do so but your life is to please the Father in heaven.
🎯 YOU DON’T DESCRIBE YOURSELF BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM/PAIN YOU’RE FACING
“In the world, there will be tribulations but be of good cheer because I have overcome the world” (John 16:33) said Jesus to his disciples. There’s no pain we’re feeling now that people haven’t felt in the past and they overcame. So many people describe themselves because of their health issues, for example, some say “they’re asthmatic patient” – ew! Recently a friend said to me “who will love an asthmatic patient talk less of marrying her” referring to herself, hearing that from her irritated me, I had to silence her with the Word of God. Some of us are so faithless and this informed the description of ourself. The Bible describes us as an OVERCOMER – we’re more than Conquerors. Oh no! You’re not your problem, God’s grace is ever sufficient, Apostle Paul said in his weakness “Your Grace is sufficient for me” (2 Corinthians 2:19).
🎯 YOU DON’T DESCRIBE YOURSELF BECAUSE OF YOUR LOCAL ENVIRONS.
Your environment could limit you and limit your potentials, as a child of God the environment you find yourself should not define you. The life of Moses can be used as a case study, he lived as a Prince of Eygpt, people revered him as a prince of Egypt, but he had that knowledge that he does not belong there, he knew a great assignment awaits him. Moses’ life in the palace as a Prince to Pharaoh did not stop him from looking out for his brothers – (Exodus 2), so don’t describe yourself by limiting yourself to that locality of yours. There are greater heights and higher calling awaiting you.
🎯 YOU DON’T DESCRIBE YOURSELF BECAUSE OF YOUR PHYSICAL LOOK/ DEFORMITY
The physical image/body is not what makes a person. I’m sure you have been to a funeral and have seen a body lying in a casket. Are you looking at a person? No! You’re looking at a dead body. The person inside the dead body came out of the body. The emotions, will, intellect, feelings, are few of the characteristics that makes YOU YOU and gives you a personality. Some people are downcast because of their physical body and complain ” I’m not beautiful enough, I’m too fat” and it goes on and on, while some spend so much time nourishing the outward appearance. The real You is inside your body, and it is the YOU inside that is important, so, feed the YOU inside profitably.
